YOUR JOURNEY

Your trip around the Big Island of Hawai’i offers fantastic coastal views plus breath-taking inland vistas of some of the world’s most active volcanoes. This mission starts and finishes in the beautiful resort of Kailua-Kona – a magnet for tourists and the home of the Ironman Triathlon World Championships. Be inspired starting at Dig-Me Beach and ending up at the finish line of sport’s most iconic single-day endurance race.

To track your progress you can input your distance on the website manually. But if you use a fitness app – e.g. Strava, Fitbit, Apple Watch or Under Armour – you can automatically sync your progress (set-up notes provided on Action List). You can track yourself, your team and others during the event. You even get to see your virtual surroundings on the Big Island Hula map via Google Street View.

YOUR PACE

The beauty of doing the challenge virtually is that you exercise at your own pace and in your own space throughout to fit in with your other commitments. We also have a Pacer Icon that’ll keep you on target during the challenge. To finish the Big Island Hula by the end of January as a Solo entrant you’ll need to average 5.2 miles per day of running and/or walking.

YOUR TEAM

If an hour of running or 2 hours of walking each day sounds like too much why not share the challenge with a friend by setting up a Duo team? Just find a friend that also wants to take part, register with a funky team name and send us a photo so we can add it as the image for your map icon. Suddenly it’s only 2.6 miles per day each to complete the Big Island Hula and both claim your finisher rewards!

YOUR REWARDS

It’s vital that our challenges are ecologically sound. For this reason, we don’t supply T-shirts, goody bags or imported medals. However, in return for your entry fee, each entrant will get:
  • A tree planted in your name in the UK through our partnership with Trees Not Tees. (Learn about Trees Not Tees on our IMPACT page)
  • To provide a year’s supply of clean drinking water to a child in Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) through our partnership with Thirst Project. (Discover Thirst Project on our IMPACT page)
  • A unique, UK-made wooden Big Island Hula finisher medal (sent upon completion)
  • A Big Island Hula technical neck gaiter (sent upon completion)
  • A digital certificate (sent upon completion)
  • Full access to the event map, leader boards and progress of others on the challenge
  • Quality perks from sports, health, fitness and eco brands from registration through to the finish

Frequently Asked Questions

Zento Event offer unique virtual events. This tends to raise a few queries. You should find the answers in our frequently asked questions below. If you need more please use our CONTACT page.

Q. Can I combine walking and running in one challenge?

A. Yes, all activity on foot (outdoor, indoor, on a treadmill etc) count towards your overall distance covered.

Q. Can I take part anywhere in the world?

A. Yes. Our events have international appeal and we warmly welcome participants from around the globe. Please note all entry fees are in GB£ Sterling unless otherwise shown. A small supplement may also apply to cover the cost of shipping your finish line rewards if you live outside the UK.

Q. Are your events effected by the Covid-19 pandemic?

A. No. We politely request all participants to exercise safely whilst respecting local rules including social distancing advice. Of course, it’s possible to complete a challenge close by or even in your home!

Q. How long do I have to complete the challenge?

A. Each event has a set launch and finish date. Please check the header section for full details.

Q. Are these events races? Could people cheat?

A. Although we have leader boards there are no prizes for fast times – just the glory of completing a true challenge. That said if we notice someone averaging 40mph we may ask a few questions! 😉

Q. Do I get a medal and T-shirt when I finish?

A. We don’t offer T-shirts due to the negative environmental impact of production, printing and shipping. However, we want you to celebrate completing your challenge so include a bespoke UK-made wooden medal plus other items detailed in the YOUR REWARDS section.

Q. Can I take part to fundraise for my favourite charity/cause?

A. Absolutely. When so many in-person events have disappeared our challenges are perfect for engaging your supporters to help raise funds for your favourite cause. Feel free to set up a fundraising page on your preferred platform and share your progress with friends and family.

Q. Do I need to use a special fitness app or smart watch?

A. If you use a fitness app such as Strava, Apple Watch, Apple Health, Under Armour, Fitbit or Runkeeper you can sync it to MyVirtualMission™ to auto-record your activity. If you don’t use a fitness app you can easily upload your activity manually. Full instructions for both options will be sent after registration.

Q. How often can I add to my challenge miles?

A. As often as you like. Whether a training run, a walk in the park or an active commute all activity you post will advance you/your team. IMPORTANT: You must sign-up with our tech partner, MyVirtualMission™, and join the mission to post activity (link provided after registration).

Q. How can I take part in a challenge with my friends?

A. You can take part solo or as part of a team where joint efforts count towards your goal. And by inviting others to participate you can add to the friendly rivalry! Check header for maximum team size.

Q. How safe is your payment process?

A. All transactions go through Stripe, our secure payment partner. We have no access to your card details.

Q. Can you help set up a bespoke challenge for our company or charity?

A. Absolutely. Please us the CONTACT link and we’ll get in touch to discuss your ideas.
