YOUR JOURNEY

This west coast route is Ireland’s equivalent of LEJOG. Making your way from the most southerly point this trip offers rugged yet spectacular views throughout. Highlights are the beauty of the Wild Atlantic Way, the mountains of Kerry and the (virtual) warmth of a Galway pub. Onward through the lunar-like landscape of the Burren, the mountain range views through the Connemara National Park to the giant Sea Loughs of the Inishowen Peninsula. Your journey ends at the rocky promontory of Malin Head at the Emerald Isle’s most northerly point. Reach here in 1-3 months and you deserve a refreshing pint (or 2) of the black stuff!!

To get the most from your journey use Strava to sync any bike ride, walk or run with the event map. You can also track yourself, your team and others during the event. See your virtual surroundings on Google Street View at the start and finish of each bout of exercise. Share your activity with friends and challenge them to join in. Complete each ride, run or walk in a place and at a pace that suits you. And why not use this opportunity to up your game and cover some miles with active commuting?

REWARDS

It’s vital that our challenges are ecologically sound.

For this reason, we don’t supply T-shirts, goody bags or imported medals. Instead we will:

  • Plant a tree in your name in the UK through our partnership with Trees Not Tees.
  • (Learn about Trees Not Tees on our Impact page)
  • Provide a year’s supply of clean drinking water for a child in Eswatini through our partnership with Thirst Project. (Read about Thirst Project on our Impact page)
  • Create a unique wooden finisher medal (made in the UK and sent when you complete the mission)
  • Supply quality perks from sports, health, fitness and eco brands at various times from registration through to the finish line.

SUPPORT A CAUSE

We’ve made it easy to combine your activity with supporting a cause close to your heart. Simply set-up a JustGiving fundraising page and sync to your Strava account with just a couple of clicks. It’s the smart way to support one of over 25,000 global charities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Zento Event offer unique virtual events. This tends to raise a few queries. You should find the answers in our frequently asked questions below. If you need more please use our CONTACT page.

Q. How do I access the challenge once I’ve signed up?
A. Each Zento Event has in-event tracking powered by My Virtual Mission – a robust web and mobile application that’s been supplying premium online mapping since 2013. When you sign up for your Zento Event you will be set up with a My Virtual Mission account where you can login and access the challenge.
Q. Does indoor training count towards my distance?

A. Yes. We have tutorials on our News page that show how to record treadmill runs and indoor cycle training on Strava to be included in a challenge.

Q. Can I take part anywhere in the world?

A. Yes. Our events have international appeal and we warmly welcome participants from around the globe. N.B. A small supplement may apply to ship your finisher medal if you live outside the UK or Ireland.

Q. Are your events effected by the Covid-19 pandemic?

A. No. Although we request all participants to respect local rules and maintain social distancing. Our events are designed so they can be completed close by or even in your home!

Q. How long do I have to complete the challenge?

A. All our events are set with a maximum duration of 3 months.

Q. Are these events races? Could people cheat?

A. There are no prizes for fast times just the glory of completing a true challenge. That said if we notice someone averaging 40mph we may ask a few questions! ?

Q. Can I take part to fundraise for my favourite charity/cause?

A. Yes. Set up your own fundraising page with JustGiving to support one of over 25,000 charities and share your progress with friends and family. Check our tips on the News page.

Q. Do I need to use a special fitness app or smart watch?

A. We recommend Strava which works on most smart watches and mobiles. With a FREE Strava account you can auto-upload activity to your challenge map and JustGiving page.

Q. Can I use an app other than Strava?

A. Yes, you can also automatically sync your distance to a challenge using Apple Watch, Apple Health, Under Armour, Fitbit and Runkeeper.

Q. How safe is your payment process?

A. All transactions go through Stripe, our secure, global payment partner. We have no access to your card details.

Q. Do your events offer a finisher medal or T-shirt?

A. We aim to ensure all rewards are eco-friendly. For example, we supply clean drinking water to the people of the Kingdom of Eswatini rather than offer T-shirts. You’ll also get a bespoke, UK-made, wooden medal/coaster when you complete your challenge.

Q. How do teams work?
A. Teams are a fun way to take part in a Zento Event. By setting up a team you share the total distance with others. Each team has its own icon on the event map and whenever a team member posts activity the team’s icon advances along the map. (Good news – you’re not required to share the distance equally!)

Your team will be represented on the leaderboard and at the same time you’ll be able to see your own personal rankings.

NOTE: Each team member must register for the event to receive their medal at the finish line.
