YOUR JOURNEY

Join us on a 2,021-mile / 3,253 kms multi-activity virtual challenge starting in Bolton and visiting its twin towns on Le Mans (France) and Paderborn (Germany) before returning to Greater Manchester to complete the Bolton Marathon route to give a total of 2021 miles!

As you make your way through 5 European countries, you’ll pass meaningful milestones where you can learn more about your location and get motivational messages to keep you on track.

The beauty of doing the challenge virtually is that you can take part at your own pace and in your own space throughout the month to fit in with your other commitments. To track your progress you can input your distance on the website manually. But if you have a fitness app on your phone – e.g. Strava, Fitbit, Google Fit or RunKeeper – you can automatically sync your progress.

Your participation can help support our official charity whilst providing inspiration to train through until the Bolton Marathon and 10k on 16th May 2021.

TEAMS

You can enter solo or can share the experience as part of a team of 2-10 people. Perfect for groups at work, your running or football club, or how about taking on the challenge as a family?! Important: To comply with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) all entrants must be aged 16+ on 1st October 2020.

If you would like to enter as a team please nominate a team captain and enter the name of your team when you register. Each team member will be required to pay the relevant entry fee.

ENTRY OPTIONS

There are 3 different entry options. Just pick the one that suits you when registering. [Note that a £5 discount applies for existing entrants of the postponed 2020 Bolton Marathon & 10k]

CHARITIES

This challenge is being promoted by Bolton Marathon Ltd in support of the Bolton Hospice.

The care Bolton Hospice provides aims to improve the lives of people whose illness may not be curable. The Hospice helps people to live as actively as possible after diagnosis to the end of their lives, however long that might be. They place the highest value on respect and choice.

Their consultant-led team of doctors, nurses and other professional staff provide expert care and support for local people with terminal or life-limiting illnesses and their families, in the hospice and at home. They not only take care of patients’ physical needs, they consider their emotional, spiritual and social needs too. And they support families and close friends, both during illness and in bereavement.

To continue providing free care and support the Bolton Hospice needs to raise £4 million a year.

You are encouraged to set up an individual or team fundraising page in support of the Bolton Hospice or any other charity of your choice to benefit from you taking part in the Bolton Marathon Twin Town Challenge.
