YOUR JOURNEY
First Milk’s chosen charity for 2020 is the Mental Health Foundation. Having raised in excess of £10,000 for Alzheimer charities last year, we’re keen to continue our impressive fundraising efforts.
With large group activities curtailed this year, the First Milk team is undertaking a ‘virtual’ challenge. We’re running, walking, cycling and swimming an amazing 6,628 miles from First Milk’s office in Glasgow to Mount Everest, via the Lake District and Haverfordwest Creameries.
Every step counts, whether clocking up miles around your farm, workplace or further afield. If 200 people take part, that’s just 2 miles per person each day of the two-week challenge. None of us can do this alone, but together we make it happen. Taking part might even provide an autumnal boost to your own mental and physical health!
The beauty of doing the challenge virtually is that you can take part at your own pace and in your own space throughout the fortnight to fit in with your other commitments. To track your progress you can input your distance on the website manually. But if you have a fitness app on your phone – e.g. Strava, Fitbit, Google Health or RunKeeper – you can automatically sync your progress.
We’re aiming to raise £10,000 for the Mental Health Foundation from the First Milk Top of the World Challenge so sign up today and help support this great cause!
MENTAL HEALTH FOUNDATION
The Mental Health Foundation (MHF) is the UK’s leading charity for mental health with a vision of good mental health for all.
The charity strives to help people to understand, protect and sustain their mental health. “With prevention at the heart of what we do, we aim to find and address the sources of mental health problems so that people and communities can thrive.”
The charity expects the negative mental health effects of this year’s pandemic to last much longer than its physical health impacts. This makes it particularly important to be supporting its vital work this year as the UK population, including our families, friends and colleagues, seeks support in the face of this challenge.
